Billy Whigham Promoted to Montgomery County President
Montgomery, AL, July 16, 2025: River Region President Gene Crane is pleased to announce the promotion of Billy Whigham to Montgomery County President at River Bank & Trust. In this role, Whigham will lead the bank’s consumer lending and retail teams in Montgomery, while continuing to care for his clients and help local neighbors and businesses reach their financial goals.
“Billy has a deep understanding of our clients, our community, and the values that define our bank,” says Crane. “He’s a natural leader with a heart for service, and we’re proud to recognize his commitment to our team and to Montgomery County.”
Whigham has served River Bank & Trust as a Relationship Manager and Senior Vice President for nearly a decade. With more than 20 years of banking experience, he brings a strong foundation of financial expertise and a personal approach that resonates with clients and colleagues alike. He is a graduate of Troy University, the U.S. Army War College, and the Graduate School of Banking at LSU. Whigham also serves in the U.S. Army Reserves, where he earned the rank of Colonel.
Devoted to his community, Whigham is involved in many civic and charitable organizations, including the Montgomery Humane Society, Alabama National Fair, Kiwanis Club of Montgomery, and Meals on Wheels. He teaches financial literacy in local schools and nonprofits and has coached youth sports for many years. A longtime member of Ramer Methodist Church, he teaches Sunday School and volunteers with the church’s Vacation Bible School program. Whigham lives in Ramer with his wife, Courtney, a schoolteacher. They have three children, Landyn, Kent, and Maddox, who attend Saint James School in Montgomery.
“I am deeply honored to step into the role of Montgomery County President,” says Whigham. “This opportunity is a reflection of the incredible support I’ve received from mentors, colleagues, and our community. It’s truly humbling to follow in the footsteps of Polly Hardegree, one of my favorite people and a true icon in banking. I’ve been blessed to learn from her over the past 15 years, and her example will continue to guide me.”
